How do students adress you?
I am entering the education field very soon and was hoping to gain some insight and personal opinions on how students and teachers choose to address one another. When it comes to classroom management how do you address your students – and how you ask them to address you?
Do you allow students to call you by your first name?
How do you feel about students using Dr., Mr., Mrs. or Ms.? What about "sir" or "ma'am"?
Do you address students with titles? nicknames? last names?
Do you address students by the names they request, or by ones you choose?
Thoughts?
Thanks so much!

Re: How do students adress you?
The culture of our school allows students to be more informal with us, commonly using only our first or last names: "Jones, I have a question"
It is rare that I hear a Ms. in front of my name! Some simply say "Teacher, ..."
We in turn, also are more infomal with students, calling them also either by their last name or whatever their liking may be at the time.

Here first names don't come up. Sometimes for those little ones, you will hear "Miss (First name)", and that is rare.
It is always Mr., Mrs., Ms, or Miss here and last name here. No matter what.
My name is Miss CoffeeLover. When the students ask me my first name, I tell them it is Miss and my last name is CoffeeLover.
Even the adults call other teachers when in the presence of students Mr. and Mrs. (Last Name)
And we always say yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes, sir, no, sir. ALWAYS

Re: How do students adress you?
Mrs. for me, and I also tend to address students with a Miss or Mr. before their last names. I like this.
I was surprised when I started work at a childcare centre and children called the staff Miss or Mr and their first name, so Miss Siobhan. I didn't mind that at all, very personal!
